Present
Specialty
Couples
Therapy: Since 1989, I have studied extensively under Harville Hendrix, Ph.D.
in New York who founded the Imago International Institute (III) and innovated
the theory of couples therapy called Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT). My wife,
Francine C. Beauvoir, Ph.D., also a licensed psychologist practices with me and
we put on weekend workshops for couples regularly in the United States, New
Zealand, and France. We are both Certified Imago Relationship Therapists and
Workshop Presenters, and are on the faculty of the Imago International Institute
where I am a master trainer and the dean of the faculty.
Theoretical
Orientation
I practice
Imago Relationship Therapy, which is a unique blend of Psychodynamic, Gestalt,
and Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy. IRT sees the committed, intimate relationship
as the best place to realize the deepest levels of growth and healing. IRT is
the only form of therapy I choose to practice. As a psychotherapist, I desire
to facilitate clients to find healing from childhood wounds, to eliminate
debilitating symptoms, to realize personal potential and creative expression,
and to experience wholeness and full aliveness. For more information about this
form of therapy, read Harville Hendrix's best seller called, "Getting The Love
You Want: A Guide For Couples." M. Scott Peck says of it, "I know of no better
guide for couples who genuinely desire a maturing relationship."
Even though I have had a theological education, I am a secular humanist and seek to discover an understanding of the world through scientific inquiry and the use of reason. I see life as meaningful and am committed to moral principles that are derived from critical intelligence and human experience, pursuing positive ideals.
